Patricia Weekes RSA asked me in 2009 to help create a sculpture for the entrance to a new health facility near Albury. The Mercy Sisters and their staff run support services for physically and mentally challenged people in the area. I visited and got an initial look at the work they do….they do an incredible job. I decided to return and run a workshop with some of the participants to learn more about what they do.
Eventually Patricia and her staff selected this sculpture as a representation of their work. One of her staff I think described it best
‘She has a non-descriptive face which means that she could be anyone who links to our service. I like … the way she is sitting. Like, she has sat long enough and is now wanting to step up and into life. She seems comfortable but ready to move.’ Lionel Ward
